Cardboard for paper cups in the food industry
Paper cups are made of highly compressed, sturdy cardboard, which is often coated on the inside with a thin layer of plastic or biopolymer. This combination gives the cups the necessary stability, liquid tightness and heat resistance, making them suitable for both hot drinks such as coffee and tea, as well as cold drinks and desserts.
The cardboard used is food-safe, tasteless and odourless, and in our cases is produced with FSC certification. This means that the raw material comes from sustainable forestry, which improves the environmental balance.
Properties of paper cups:
Strength & dimensional stability: The cardboard is extra strong and retains its shape even when exposed to moisture and heat.
Food compliance: Most materials meet the requirements for direct food contact.
Barrier properties: The inner coating prevents soaking and makes the cup liquid-tight for a long time.
Sustainability: Many of our cups are made from certified raw materials and can be recycled or composted, depending on the coating.
Areas of application:
Paper cups are used in cafés, restaurants, events and to-go segments, but are also suitable for ice cream, desserts, tasting portions or DIY applications.
The combination of functionality, versatility and environmental aspects makes paperboard a preferred material for the production of disposable cups in the food industry.
